About The Band

Country Western music fans and crowds at rodeo dances in Central Oregon have known his band as “Big John and the Rednecks.” In 2005, the name of the band was changed to “John Grant and the Western Revue.”

Ever since he received his first PanAmerican guitar and instruction book from his grandfather at age seven, John has been on the trail to success. His first debut was in sixth grade, singing and playing “Ghost Riders in the Sky.” John’s music was influenced by country artists such as Merle Haggard, Marty Robbins, Bob Wills, Sons of the Pioneers, Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, and Ian Tyson.

In addition to singing and playing the guitar and fiddle, John writes many of the songs his band plays. He wrote most of the songs on his first album, Fate of a Rodeo Cowboy, released in 1981 by CIS Northwest. In 1987, he produced and recorded a second album called Cowboy’s Paradise. All ten songs on the album are John’s original tunes. The newest album, Love Has Its Ways, is an entire album of true western music with the heart and feelings that come from years of love and loss.

The band enjoys playing for any gathering, large or small. So whether it’s a rodeo, community fundraiser, county fair, grange hall get-together, wedding reception, western concert, ranch party, barbecue, or just a good ol’ country barn dance, John Grant and The Western Revue is the band to have for the best knee-slappin’, foot-stompin’ time of your life.
